Graduate Credit/Re-licensing Credit:

SWI is pleased to offer re-licensing credit and/or graduate credit through CU-Denver for interested educators. Participants must attend all sessions, beginning with the Thursday evening plenary by Wilma Mankiller, as well as the registration and reading on Friday, and including the working lunch on Saturday.

Re-licensing credit may be earned for 100% attendance at all sessions and by keeping a writer’s notebook of reflections on each session.

One (1) hour of graduate credit may be earned though the University of Colorado-Denver ($55.00) with the completion of all of the above and one of the following final projects:

A. Lesson plan design inspired by participation on one or more sessions
B. Personal writing drawing on strategies and techniques modeled in one or more sessions
C. Personal reflection on learning from the conference and how that learning may be integrated into a philosophy of teaching.

Submission of a final project must be made to Tom Byrne (tbyrne@durango.k12.co.us, or 223 Riverview Dr., Durango, CO 81301) by December 1, 2007.

A = successful completion of the following:
· A thoughtful and well-developed final project that incorporates aspects of the Southwest Writers institute into its completion.
· A writer’s notebook of session responses
· 100% attendance of all sessions
B = successful completion of the following:
· A writer’s notebook of session responses
· 100% attendance of all sessions
C = successful completion of the following:
· A personal reflection on learning from the conference and how that learning may be integrated into a philosophy of teaching.
· 100% attendance of all sessions

Payment of $55.00 to the University of Colorado-Denver is due at registration for graduate credit or may be made directly to CU with a credit card. Please complete the CU-Denver registration materials.
